Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American singer-dancer and actress. The first Broadway roles include Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. The actress was awarded her Tony Award for Best Featured actress in a Play in the role of Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford has spent her career working alongside renowned directors and actors across stage film and television and she will continue that work with several upcoming projects. Ashford's next project will be a limited edition Hulu show called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show debuts on November 22 and Ashford stars opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford is currently in the making for Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust starring Sarah Paulson. The film will be available through Disney's DTC platforms, as well as Hulu Original. Ashford will be seen as Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the upcoming March 2023 production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will form the team of creators for the production. Ashford was last seen in the role of Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the National Crisis which put Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the middle of the first impeachment proceeding in America in Over a Century. The two-season run she had on the CBS comedy B Positive was her first significant role. She also appeared in the popular series developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, that starred legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. No stranger to Broadway Ashford has been awarded both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her character Essie. Additional Broadway credits for Ashford are Sunday in the Park, in which she starred with George Wicked legally Blonde, and the role of Lauren In Kinky Boots. For this performance, she was awarded an Tony Award nomination. Ashford has been born in Denver, now spends time living in Los Angeles and New York.
